More than ever, there’s been a deluge of discourse on the Lunar Nodes and their meaning — especially as we begin to experience their shift by sign. And this is appropriate, as the idea and feeling of “deluge” will intensify on global and personal scales come this new astrological cycle.

Those of you who know about Nodes, forgive this quaint summary. Those who want some background, welcome! The Lunar Nodes are not planets nor luminaries, but points in the sky — specifically, those on which the moon’s orbit crosses the sun’s ecliptic, or pathway, and which determine eclipses. In astrology, we frequently deal with points — the Ascendant, the Descendant, the MC (Medium Coeli), the IC (Imum Coelli), and on — and these are always precise to the degree. As such, they are like supercharged, electric pillars of meaning — the boundaries, thresholds, even portals, that regulate and direct energy, whether that of your body (ASC), your connection with others (DSC), your public image (MC), your innermost soul (IC), or more. Further, it is helpful to think of points along an axis, or, as opposed to one another: the ASC peers over at the DSC, the IC glances up at the MC, and — you guessed it! — the Lunar Nodes gaze at each other, in what one may call an astrological game of tug-of-war.

So what, pray tell, is the premise of this Nodal dance? Traditions, opinions, and pop contemplations diverge on the Nodes’ signification. In Vedic astrology, the North Node, called Rahu, carries the hungry, insatiable energy of the Dragon’s head, while the South Node, or Ketu, represents the tail of the Dragon, or the trail (or possible carnage….) it leaves behind on its journey. More recently, New Age discourse and astrologers have linked the Nodal axis to the concept of purpose, destiny, or calling: the North represents, literally, your “true north,” while the South is your past, your comfort zone, or the pattern you tend to get a bit stuck in. This might be oversimplifying things, but — you’re always striving to be in the North, and always disdaining the South.

Yet it's interesting to me how the newer definition still seems to perform, even extend, the older (Vedic): for is the idea of striving, of always growing, or ascending, not a capitalism-made concept that tries to justify, or repackage, the concept of insatiability, or the constant desire for more, in a palatable way? After all, it’s a positive thing to grow, to acquire more, to feel yourself developing, to collect barrels of new experiences and expertise, or a plethora of notches under various belts. Yet when is enough enough?

If I could tell you anything about the Nodes, it is that they beg us to practice a healthy balancing act — between our dreams and our cautionary reminders, our opposing needs and impulses, our play with past-contextualization and future-projection. Above all, though, they remind us that nothing can be done or enjoyed without a healthy, somewhat decent nervous system. Perhaps their greatest lesson is to convince us that, at least on this planet, we rarely find ourselves in the perfect, frictionless circumstance, environment, or relationship, or in seamless synthesis between our messy inner and outer processes — but that we can always adjust our points of attention on as many spectra as we want so that we find some semblance of concreteness and flexibility — however much of each we might need at a time.

Now, what is the Pisces-Virgo nodal axis about specifically? In short, it is the see-saw of mystic manifesting.

As mutable signs, Virgo and Pisces have much in common — flexibility, adaptability, a certain wizard-like talent for seeping through the cracks upon request, and so much capacity to alchemize whatever material or circumstance drops in their lap. Pop astrology tells us that Pisces daydreams their way through life, but rarely acknowledges Virgo’s secret need to float through their routine unencumbered. Pop astro tells us about Virgo’s perfectionist-executive mode, but almost never acknowledges how Pisces can be incredibly exacting, even OCD.

Regardless, the energy that the nodes want to balance on this axis is that of alchemy itself — shifting thoughts to transform materials, transforming materials to engender states of emotion, turning limitless potential and time into concrete experiences, broadening details to reflect the grandness of the universe.

In short, we’re experimenting with various ways of making our dreams come true, of defining what reality and “realness” mean for us (big theme for all the Pluto in Aquarius-determined questions about AI and tech), and of making sense of the eternal rift between infinity and scarcity.

On the darker end of this spectrum, we might experience quite a strong pull towards escapism; conversely, a stubborn attachment to meticulous routine and ritual even when it doesn’t serve us anymore; and, overall, an impulsive, dangerous approach to aligning with undiscerning collectives, spirituality, or dark storytelling and doom-casting. We might also be over-investing in things like astrology or virtual realities. Thankfully, Saturn, the planet of limitation, will be conjunct the North Node for quite a while during this transit, so we will always find moments when we declare that enough is enough. There will, however, be a need for us to constantly redraw the boundaries of propriety, health, and even ethics. Most subtly, the Nodes will ask us what we’re willing to give up in order to get something else. What must fall away to help something else ascend? And how do we feel about it? For a related topic, see my article on Jupiter and Saturn.

Down below you’ll find a channeled forecast for each of the rising signs that applies to this Nodal transit (Jan 2025-Jul 2026).

Most importantly, I suggest reading this, then evaluating your personal Nodal axis (cast your chart here to discover it, if you don't already know). For the latter, you may use the quick guide here as an introduction to how this transit will affect you; think of this as an additional lens through which to understand the forecast for your rising. Finally, the predictions corresponding to the signs of your Sun and Moon placements might also resonate. In short, there are many lenses through which you can further personalize this reading!

  • If your Nodes are Cancer North-Capricorn South or Scorpio North-Taurus South, the 2025-26 Nodal transit will trine — or mystically support — your natal placement, but beware of too much inaction, which might cause you to miss this opportunity to welcome a vast improvement in your life.

  • If your Nodes are Taurus North-Scorpio South or Capricorn North-Cancer South, this transit will sextile your natal placement, so it will encourage you via subtle hints and experiences that help you to maximize your healing, success, and abundance.

  • If your Nodes are Virgo North-Pisces South, this transit will oppose your natal placement, so it will likely feel like a time of rebalancing and review — a sort of halfway “checkpoint” from the universe before you continue on (or adjust) your main path.

  • If your Nodes are the same as this transit — Pisces North-Virgo South — this time will feel like a rebirth, and a period of great completion — enjoy it!

  • If your Nodes are Gemini North-Sagittarius South or Sagittarius North-Gemini South, this transit will square your natal axis, so you might feel like some of the overarching spiritual themes this year challenge you or add some bulk to your to-do list.

  • If you Nodes are Aries North-Libra South or Leo North-Aquarius South, this transit will quincunx your natal placement and likely make you feel a bit out of place, or else it will enforce (somewhat chaotic) growth, or new avenues for exploration.

  • If your Nodes are Libra North-Aries South or Aquarius North-Leo South, your direct connection to this transit will be weaker, so you might feel unsure about what to focus on now. This time can function really well as a break, hiatus, or contrast to your usual routines — the perfect period for contemplation.

(I also encourage you to read about your natal Nodal axis in greater detail, and to check which houses in your natal chart it occupies).

Rising Forecasts for Nodal Shift to Pisces/Virgo, Jan 2025-Jul 2026

Aries: Your connection with your inner world is about to intensify, and you will be asked to make room for this in your daily routine. How can you incorporate spiritual rituals, alone time, reflectiveness, healing, therapy, and even grander mystical contemplations, like past-life exploration or actual magic, into your life without losing your sense of rootedness? Sleeping more than usual, going on retreats away and unplugging from the world, journaling, or engaging in astrology, tarot, or spirituality will help you clarify your vision for a more fulfilling life. Your dreams might also deepen, or become more cryptic, at this time, and you might start to connect with new systems of symbolism, like synchronicities, signs, and messages that you’ve never heard or seen before. If you deal with more antagonistic people than usual during this period, practicing conflict resolution or decelerating techniques for frustration management will be your keys to success. Whatever challenges you now will be the key to your rebirth in 2026.

Taurus: You will experience blossoming connection with your soul family, and with causes, collectives, and institutions that resonate with you at the heart level. You might also find supportive experiences through online platforms, new technologies, and innovative interfaces that you might not have thought were for you. Trust that you have already done enough work, collected enough meaningful, concrete experiences, and explored your authentic individuality plenty to look back with pride at all the accomplishments you’ve collected. Now it’s time to share it all, to act as a mentor to others who want to follow your path, and to see where your individual passions connect to a bigger purpose or need in the world. This is a great time to “output” something, to project (your voice, vision, dreams, media), or engage in new projects, and to advocate for your chosen cause(s). If you find yourself dreaming more than taking action, seek out someone you admire and ask them what helped them take actionable steps to manifest their inner vision.

Focus Chakras for Taurus: Heart, Crown

Gemini: This will be a period of growth and transformation for your career and public presence. You might quite literally grow in your field, or play a bigger role, ascend to a position of greater eminence, even fame, and start to see a tangible personal legacy manifest right before your eyes. These new perks might come with some challenges, though, like having less time to spend with family and friends, finding yourself more in the office than the home, or in constantly moving vehicles rather than your usual beloved spaces. Your quest is to decide how much growth you really crave and need, and how much you’re willing to sacrifice to reach that goal or zenith. Carving out personal bubbles for yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, even while away from your comfort zone, will help you experience the positive intensification that will come your way. Meditation, detoxing in all possible ways, and checking in with your own inner voice will be imperative so that you don’t lose yourself in the grind or hustle.

Cancer: You will enjoy a period of mental and philosophical expansion. Whether this means going back to school, getting another degree, broadening your exploration of religion or spirituality, experiencing new foreign cultures, moving residences, or something entirely unexpected, it will surely bring a change in your daily circumstances and well-trodden social circles. You might find yourself more easily detaching from your comfort zone, and cultivating more tolerance for being away from home while trusting that everything will be okay when you’re gone. (If this already brought you anxiety as you read, take note: this is something to work on during this period!). You might also run into some people or institutions whose values vastly differ from your own, and your quest will be to listen deeply rather than prepare for the worst — and, if possible, to avoid hiding away as soon as you feel a clash between your truth and “theirs.” What can you learn from different worlds, or from others who view the world differently? Book that flight, take that class, publish that article or website — be bold and curious, and you’ll be rewarded!

Leo: The way you experience and define value will transform powerfully at this time. You’ve worked extra hard for a while now, and you might have felt like a frantic octopus trying to enter various closing doors. Despite that, you’ve gained, mastered, and produced a lot, whether you feel it or not. Now, it’s time to surrender to co-creating with the universe. You might find yourself magnetized to some serious questions about life, including its finality, or you might deepen your relationship to the occult. This will require extra time, stillness, and material stability in your immediate environment. You will likely complete some important healing and trust exercises in the area of intimacy, whatever that means for you, which will reveal deeper, unexpected truths about your beliefs. Your finances will likely shift this year, either in closer connection with a partner, business entity, or new investment technique. There’s no need to panic-plan for any crisis, but it’s a good idea to start making room in your life, especially materially, so that you have space to welcome in the new. Set up that garage sale, post on Poshmark, downsize your double-subscriptions — the rewards will far outweigh the losses.

Focus Chakras for Leo: Crown, Root

Virgo: The new ways you connect with others will deepen your understanding of love at this time. You will be encouraged, even pushed, to acknowledge and rethink any overly-independent default modes you’ve been operating in for some time. What experiences, repetitive cycles, traumas, energies not your own, but that you’ve absorbed, have been programming you to by hyper-independent, isolated, overburdened, or insecure about asking for help? You will find that boundaries will be up to you to define and maintain throughout this time, but that this might give you a bit more anxiety than in the past, even if this new thinking opens doors for healthier connections. If it’s really up to you to shape your relationships, does that mean that you can shape your whole reality to match your dreams? Yes, it does. Your quest will be to think about this as a blessing rather than a curse. To encourage visionary thinking and feeling, immerse yourself in all the stories that bring you joy and hope, read those BookTok fantasies (no shame!), take that tango class, and swoon over your favorite couples of all time. It’s not cringe, and if anyone tells you otherwise, they’ll be eating their words when you manifest your ideal life.

Libra: It’s time to alchemize your daily experience. Do you feel as though your current routine drains you, that your job misaligns with your dreams, that the way you show up for income or service creates a zero-sum game between your resources and energy? This is a period when you can rebalance that, but it must start with a single, clear, yet often difficult first step. This is the time to get out the vision boards, the lists, and to assemble all the big data about where your past efforts, investments, and mentalities have led you: do you like the result? If not, your task will be to define, then declare, your intended reality — not philosophically nor poetically, but in simple, concrete terms. What do you want your day to include or exclude? You have to remember that you only have one life (as far as you can perceive right now), and that not a single minute wasted can be justified to fit another’s agenda, gains, or mission. In order to call your journey your own, you must take every step in your honor. Quit the job you hate and trust that you will align to something better; raise your pay-rate to account for all the labor that goes into your work; incorporate more time with loved ones and pets into your day; grow your garden; redecorate your space — if you feel inspired when you wake up and when you get in bed, only good things can happen.

Scorpio: If you’ve ever wanted to shine, now’s the time to make it happen. But first, you have to figure out what, if anything, has held you back from fully embracing this potential historically. Perhaps your need for alone time has made you fear the spotlight, yet you’ve always secretly craved it, or perhaps you’ve despised the toxic potential of performance networks or celebrity culture. Or, perhaps you’ve devoted yourself wholly to some cause, institution, or to playing the role of non-threatening wallflower. Whatever the context, you’re being encouraged to become more solar, more daring, even a bit “too much,” and to embrace more sensuality and expressive flamboyance outside of your private bubble. The world needs your individuality, idiosyncrasy, and distinct vision — in fact, it wants to be transformed by it. Why ignore the call of something that is so native to you? If you second-guess your worth, belongingness, or find yourself feeding your impostor syndrome, seek others who have similar visions or secret hopes as you (you will be able to discern them) and encourage yourself as you would them: why should it not be you?

Focus Chakra for Scorpio: Solar Plexus, Sacral

Sagittarius: This is the perfect time to detach from all attitudes of hustle culture that don’t bring you joy (and be honest: doesn’t that mean about 95% of it?!). Do you itch to get out of your corporate uniform, to throw away the mask you peel off at the end of each day, or to reclaim that exhilarating rush you get from running, biking, walking — not just on your way to work, the gym, or up the metaphorical steps of your general ascension? The next year and a half can bring some powerful healing after long period of bumpy, nausea-inducing journeying. You’ve been shackled, stifled, and contained for way too long — but ironically, the remedy to this might not be in some grand adventure like the type you see in movies. You must define what expansion and elevation mean to you personally: this could be taking a hiatus or sabbatical, or it could mean adding more pins to your virtual map. It could mean carving out more alone time for yourself so you can sift through your dreams and hopes, or it could mean saying no to staying past your shift or taking on someone else’s task and finally going out with friends again. Whatever the answer, your core self asks you to tune in to its gentle hum; you can hear this on top of the Himalayas or in your backyard, but you must let go of any of the world’s grand narratives about fulfillment and success that might have been tuning it out.

Focus Chakras for Sagittarius: Crown, Heart

Capricorn: Now’s the time to walk the walk, talk the talk, and put all your philosophies and values into action. Do you find yourself dreaming of living somewhere else, or constantly adding to your vision boards? Have you tried every single manifestation technique in the book, scheduled all the woo-woo sessions with local (or opposite-hemisphere!) intuitives, read all the books, studied all the religions? Now’s the time to figure out what actually works for you on a daily basis. What systems of thought, philosophies, mantras, adages, affirmations actually resonate with your soul? It might be time to make up your own, or even to create your custom subliminal (if you believe in that sort of thing). Whatever the case, if you’ve been struggling with manifesting a balanced life that allows you to feel like you’re thriving, it’s probably because you’ve been embodying someone else’s principles, or ignoring one of your most powerful channels of energetic expression. Tune into your body and notice: what if anything feels most neglected right now? Follow that center and see how you can send it love. From there, you’ll find that it offers you a plethora of information and solutions.

Focus Chakras for Capricorn: Throat, Crown

Aquarius: This is a time for you to build or rebuild what matters most to you. You may have sacrificed a lot for your partner(s), family, or else lived according to some higher concept about legacy, long-term security, or fulfillment, so now it’s time to actually delve into the resources you have available to you in order to fine-tune the life you want. What did you learn in the recent or long-term past that gave you new insight into your relationship with materials, and what value systems, mentalities, or cultural norms have hindered or supported your feelings of abundance? Whatever made you feel a sense of lack must go now; whatever struggle or suffering you’ve accepted, explored, or experienced as a lesson can be released now with peace and wisdom. You’ve done a lot of digging, planting, and sowing, and now it’s time to reap the rewards of your efforts. The quest will be to find a powerful, generous way to share this with the world, and to give back to those who helped you during your most difficult periods. Trust that you have the bandwidth, resources, and energy to shift into the experience you want to have — if it looks like an overnight (even “quantum-leaping”) process to others, you know the down-to-earth journey that went into this, and can feel safe to enjoy the blessings.

Focus Chakras for Aquarius: Root, Third Eye

Pisces: If ever there was a time to turn your attention to yourself, it’s now. If ever there was a time to drop all the connections, relationships, and responsibilities that feel like weights on your back and lead in your bloodstream, it’s now. You’ve likely been the perfect mirror or genie for multiple people in your life, especially partners; you’ve perfected the art of anticipating someone else’s desire or expectation, and fulfilling it before it was even iterated, yet you might not remember the last time you’ve stopped to seriously ask yourself what your expectations, desires, or hopes are, especially in connection to others. Can you possibly imagine putting all the monumental energy you put into discerning, holding, and alchemizing others’ energy into yourself? If that feels uncomfortable, you know that this period will challenge you to grow in confidence, self-love, and healthy entitlement — and to explore the possibility that your default mode of showing up in the world as yourself can be as big and expansive as your mind, soul, and heart. Think about it this way: the less you filter or confine your authentic energy, the more you also inspire others while aligning to your true purpose.
